History

Devcon Construction, Inc. began as the ambitious dream of a group of valley entrepreneurs. From it’s origins as a developer-contractor in 1976, Devcon’s innovation, growth and expertise have supported many leading companies in Silicon Valley. ​ ​

The Value of Design-Build

After developing a series of concrete tilt-ups for a variety of high-tech clients, the founders of Devcon brought in Gary Filizetti as vice president of construction in 1980 to manage the transition of Devcon into a design-build general contractor. The inclusion of a strong architectural team from those early days has distinguished Devcon as a fast-moving, efficient construction firm with the skills ... and knowledge to integrate its efforts seamlessly with those of developers, owners, independent architects, subcontractors and end users. ​ In the mid-1980s, as Bay Area land development exploded in response to the rising tech industry the company earned a reputation for excellent structural steel mid-rise and high-rise shells in Silicon Valley, along the peninsula, in the East Bay and in San Francisco. This reputation allowed us to expand our expertise into interiors, landscaping, and parking throughout our early years. During the high-tech downturn of the early 1990s, Devcon responded to the changing times and continued to expand it’s portfolio of residential, multi-family, retail and mixed use projects.
